Nutrition expert Dr. Brian Clement, director of the world-famous Hippocrates Health Institute, explores the various myths that have made supplements a "buyer beware" industry.Supplements Exposed strips away layers of deception to reveal the truth about what millions of supplement users each year have taken for granted. For the first time, you will learn how:* Nearly all supplements sold in the United States and the world are synthetics created in pharmaceutical industry labs. As a result, they can be toxic to your health.* There are distinct differences between natural (plant-derived) supplements and synthetic (chemically-derived) supplements and how they each impact your health.* Nearly all medical science studies of nutrients and human health have used synthetics rather than natural nutrients, which throws the accuracy of all negative laboratory results into serious doubt. This provocative book guides you through the minefield of choices you face every time you buy vitamins and minerals. It shows you how to decipher product labels that are otherwise deceptive, how to choose naturally occurring (plant-derived) supplements, why recommended daily allowances spread confusion, and much more.

By Susan Schenck In this provocative, well researched book, Dr. Brian Clement challenges everything we think we know about dietary supplements. The first myth is that it shows that we have no nutritional supplements, only food. He quotes a U.S. Senate report from 1936 which showed that the Earth is depleted in nutrients, and explains that while organic farming is not enough! He continues to give us the story of vitamin production, and the more you read, the more you realize that it sounds a bit better than the drug companies! Another misconception is that synthetic vitamins are just as natural nutrients, or even more effective or totally absorbed. (! In fact, many vitamins are found in amorphous pots Port) As director of the Institute of Hippocrates, he examined the blood of more than 11,000 customers who used synthetic supplements and has shown this to be true, but here is where it gets tricky Synthetic vitamins may label their products as whole foods or a food source for legal loopholes - while in fact just a base of yeast, bacteria or algae or other food that medium was enriched with synthetic vitamins! Sorry all you network marketers - even multi-level supplements usually come from the same source, same producers of synthetic vitamins. Our best option is to buy "products on the label that its powers or vitamin or mineral nutrients came from" natural power "and on the label, what exactly are these food sources. In addition, products bearing vitamin NOS (naturally present in the standard) logo is safe and guaranteed to have the power to only vitamin comes from real foods, whole "(p 161). Myths are subjected to further studies of vitamin reliable, and are given a list for five reasons. We learn not to trust the label "natural" for what it may contain toxic additives. additives commonly found in dietary supplements contain fillers, binders, disintegrant, lubricant, flavoring agents, coloring agents, preservatives and coating materials. There is a whole chapter about the fallacy of fish oils. Brian says that the fish will be toxic, and this creates pollution lipid peroxide. It's been a lot of propaganda to take fish oil, especially for its benefits DHA (the brain is 60% DHA). I do not agree with Brian that most people their omega-3 from flax seed, chia seeds and nuts to get, and that the body is converted to DHA and EPA, that the brain is so urgently needs people who are over 30 (it unless they have been vegan most of her life), ill, toxic, or have a history of taking medications often have to DHA and EPA directly or --- fish, seaweed or eggs from hens fed flax or chia seeds. A chapter in depth about the role of certain vitamins made available, and another about the most important minerals. Appendix A gives us food sources of these nutrients. These chapters make this book great resource! The end of the book contains information on Codex alarming. My goal (since 1962) was that pharmaceutical companies (December 31, 2009!) To the vitamins again, making them available (except minutes ineffective doses), as prescribed by your doctor. And is likely to become more expensive drugs! Who knows if they are still taking the vitamins NSA? We lose our freedom of health, because the mainstream media (owned by pharmaceutical companies almost) silent about this update: I just saw the author of this book a speech last night. Brian said he just learned that Codex does not, then we will continue to have our supplements and health freedom (relative) for at least 2 years! 7 of 8 people found this review helpful.
