Review "Skidmore-Roth has put together a revised, concise and comprehensive evidence-based guide. The sense of history and traditional use of the herbs makes for interesting reading, but this book's real value lies in its accessibility. This is a useful resource for clinicians looking to advise or check compatibility with other treatments." Duckworth I am a home health nurse whose patients frequently use natural and/or herbal medicines and this book is a great resource to help make sure their prescriptions and natural/herbal meds are compatible. I have also used it to inform my patients of the side effects and desired effects of their herbals and naturals. The book is an invaluaable aid to any nurse whose patients use herbals/naturals. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Mosby's Handbook of Herbs & Natural Supplements By C. Starner Mosby's Handbook of Herbs & Natural Supplements contains comprehensive monographs of a large number of herbs and supplements commonly found on the market today. Included in each monograph are origin, uses, availability and dosages, contraindications, side effects and adverse reactions, drug interactions, client considerations, pharmacology, and actions of the herb/natural supplement. With use of nutraceuticals increasing among the general population, this book is an invaluable resource for healthcare professionals, and I very strongly recommend it. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Mosby's Handbook of Herbs & Natural Supplements By marybear For the most part it is a good book. And it contains important information. But she left out some important herbs; like Madigascar Periwinkle and Phylanthus Uriniaria and Phylanthus Niuri and Elaphant foot. All of them are cancer fighters and they are used for Hepatitis B too. Mary Kern, RN-BSN, BS in Health Education, MS in Psychology, Sound Therapist, Herbalist. See all 9 customer reviews...
